Hi, I am Noah and I am an adult Shar Pei / Staffie mix and a Katrina Survivor. Read my story...

I was separated from my family during Hurricane Katrina, and while volunteers at FOHA made every effort to help me get reunited with them, they could not be found.

When FOHA rescuers went to New Orleans, they found me curled up in a small crate. I was very sick, but I practically knocked myself over wagging my tail. I had to overcome a lot of health issues from struggling to survive in the storm and the foul floodwater, but I never made a sound on my trip to Virginia. I was packed up with 16 other dogs and cats, and all I did was curl up in my crate and wait patiently.

Despite all that I went through, I never lost my sweet disposition, my zest for life and desire for a family of my own. I charmed the volunteers who took care of me for all of those endless months. Now I am quite the dashing young fella, looking for a new home that will give me the love and care I deserve.

I am wonderful with people of all ages and enjoy playing with most dogs but would prefer to be introduced properly. If I see another dog I know, my eyes begin to light up and I become very “bouncy” and must have a few minutes of an amateur boxing match before I’m back on my walk. And did I tell you I just love to go for a walk so much so that I will grab my leash and pull to just hurry you along. What more can you ask for? Come out and meet me—you are sure to fall in love!

Here is me, just sitting pretty and being a very good boy!

Is that someone coming with a treat?

Here I am just taking a nice stroll in my play yard, looking for my toys to play with.

Don't you think I am one heck of a handsome boy!
